The keyframes in HFX allow animation of the different objects in the effect. There are three types of keyframes : the linear keyframes, the spline curve keyframes and the value jump keyframes. The user guide of the software describes very well these types of keyframes, their use, saving and using of different envelopes with single value or multiple values. Furthermore, our tutorials already published on this page have already explored some concepts around keyframes and envelopes. This tutorial discusses the three types of key frames and more particularly an aspect undocumented : the parameters of curve keyframes.

There is something that we have never discussed in our tutorials. That is cloning. Rest assured we will not carry out any type of genetic manipulations. We'll take the word cloning in the sense of a programming language: "Cloning is the process of duplicating an instance of an object. You already know that the HFX effect usually consists of several objects. Under certain circumstances, it is necessary to have several copies (or instances) of the same object in the HFX tree. Instead of creating copies one by one, it is possible to select an object and then clone it X number of times to get X identical objects in one transition.

Sometimes you will see a transition in Hollywood FX that you really like but you would like to change the text.

Only HFX won’t let you change the text.
The reason for that is that the “text” is not really text after all. It is in fact an object that looks like text and therefore the individual letters cannot be changed. It would be the same, for example, as having a picture of a coffee cup and saying you want to change it to the words “Coffee Cup”.
This tutorial will explain the steps needed to remove the object(s) and replace it with text that is editable.
