Previous information:

Last week, we gave you some info in bulk. Among other things, the migration of the site was one topic. It was not finished, but now it looks like it's ok!

You've probably already noticed that :

  • names of some pages changed (the menu bar is clearer)
  • now it is no longer possible to click on the chapter headings (it was confusing some of you, who have not seen that more accurate information existed)
  • on the home page, last comments are shown, not only for news articles, but also for tutorials (left part) !

Finally, we fix a bug related to the newsletter (for french readers). This is now corrected, mea culpa!

And last but not least, do not forget to consult on a regular basis our AVID Studio tutorials. We are currently updating our tutorials for adapting older Pinnacle tutorials to AVID Studio ! For more information, check Adapting our Pinnacle Studio Tutorials to AVID Studio !

Now, we will be able to focus on the content of our pages, rather than the design ....

Holidays are definitely ending for most of us and we'll have to head back to school or work. Well, it's sad and it's not easy but every year it's the same. By the way, in which category do you belong ? We will organize a small poll in a near future, to better target our readership!

To help you back on track, we offer the latest information of the summer, and all the latest news you need to know. But first I want to inform you that Le Papy is back from vacation, in better shape than ever, he has done a number of tutorials, Ijust for you... I will not say more and you will soon discover new stuff in the coming weeks ... Regarding saby, after a short summer break, he began to work very hard to serve you some nice tutorials too, as we like. GG has had a great time, and she has also brought you a little tutorial that you will found in a few weeks. As for me, I also paused this summer ... It is not always easy to write something each week, so we can repeat again and again, join us, especially since our latest arrival cyborgjeff, told us of a heavy schedule... He will no longer participate as he wished.

If you are wondering who is Le Papy, who is Saby, etc ..., then check Who is doing What on declic-video-fx.com website ?

Keep smiling and check the first part... If you were on holiday ....

In July, we published:

In August, we published:

If you are not already subscribed to our free newsletter, it's time to do so! This way, you will not miss new information that are published on our website.

Avid Studio - bugs: we regularly report on Avid Studio bugs, and we have received positive answers (bugs reproduced, and taking into account, sent to developers). Everything is currently listed in our FAQ #6 (not up to date, I have some delay in updating it, I will try to do it asap !!).

Interesting enough to be noted:

Special promotion on proDAD plugins - Summer discount -30%

  • Special promotion on proDAD Creative Packs 3-4-5 bundle (Heroglyph): 127 dollars instead of 189 dollars !! Direct link to buy (if you experience problem and if the price is not correct, do not hesitate to contact us) - if you want to see what can be done with proDAD Heroglyph Creative Pack Volume 3 and above, please check our video here. You also have some tutorials:Heroglyph, General Idea, as well as How to install a creative pack (a list of proDAD Heroglyph tutorials is available here). Warning, you need proDAD Heroglyph V2 to use this creative Pack, Heroglyph V1 is *NOT* compatible.
  • proDAD VitaScene V2 is arrived and is fully compatible with AVID Studio and Pinnacle Studio 14/15 (it's no more necessary to buy Pinnacle/AVID plugin, it's already included)

Website updated

We carried out a major update of the site. For the reader, it does not change much, but it was necessary to stay up to date, and prevent hacking .... Oh yes, for the reader, you may have noticed the flags at the top, to change language.... Otherwise, the tutorials were also grouped in a single page, accessible here: all the tutorials for nonlinear video editing, video easy! Following this update, we still have some problems we are working on, if you find some, you will be kind to let us know

Finally, we strongly advise you to navigate with Google Chrome or an alternative browser, because we noticed that our site is particularly slow to view and open in Internet Explorer 8. Google Chrome is here

Finally, we would soon change the skin of our website, ie the way information is displayed. If you are a graphic designer or if you can help us, you are welcome, tell us!

Steve Links !

One of our regular readers, Steve Sherman, made us discover two sites that recently we have added the addresses in our Links section.

The first site is called Demo World and it's its Trailers section that interests us most. There are downloadable movie trailers from major companies in the world of film and television. In the download list, to get a trailer just click on the number in the Part column opposite in front of the trailer's name

The second site is called Ustream. It allows you to broadcast streaming videos shot with your camcorder or webcam. Imagine you are filming the first steps of Junior in your living room and you want to share live images to your parents who live on Saturn. Then, Ustream is for you if you have a camcorder, a capture card for PC or a webcam, a PC and a high speed internet access.

- connect your camcorder to the PC capture card
- go to Ustream
- top right click Sign up
- complete all fields for your account and click Creat my account bottom left
- top right click Username
- in the drop-down menu, select Go to dashboard
- in the new window click Create a channel top left
- name it and click Create
- fill in at least the Category field
- top left click Go to channel
- a black screen appaears with Off air written below it
- top right click Go live!
- confirm the name oh the channel you want to broadcast
- in the new window that opens, click Start broadcast bottom right to start streaming
- in the display window where you clicked Go live!, click the Embed tab and note the URL found there
- give this URL by phoen or email to your parents and ask them to write it in their internet browser address bar
- miracle, the Saturnians can see Junior frolicking in the living room

You can even record your video and broadcast it later. It is true that the time difference between Earth and Saturn is important!

Once again, thanks a lot to Steve Sherman for having let us discover these sites.

Hello Graham,

You can already consult Who is doing What on declic-video-fx.com website ? for additionnal information. On my side in real life, I work as an engineer in a very specific domain (I am sorry, I do not want to give more info - thanks for your understanding). Others people are doing various work, some of them are retired, etc...
;-)
But we are still searching some english people to have a stronger team !!! French team is already great (even if we are always opened to every person willing to help), but english part is very small... We often think to close the english part of the website, as it is a huge amount of work to do all work translating french to english. We would like to have more english team, so we have additionnal tutorials in english, that we would be ready to translate to french !! So, promote our website and do not hesitate to join the team !!!......
Thanks for your congratulations.

I wish I could help you with the translation but thanks to dyslexia I could only proof the translation.I tried to study French but found that the only way I could learn French is to go there.Of course thanks to your tutorials I may become a proficient editor and earn my way there. Keep up the good work.

Hello everyone,
I was devastated to hear that you had considered closing the English part of the site. Unfortunately I do not know French and can not translate.
I live in Australia and my English is different to the rest of the world. We use a lot of local slang words in our dialect. It's rather funny, many English speaking people do not understand Australian English.
I am self employed and spend most of my nights designing and quoting until midnight. My day starts at 5 am and continues until 5 pm so I have little time to do what you guys do so well.
I also instruct "Studio 9, 10 (yuck) 11 and 12 (no one has 14) on a Thursday night to a Grafx interest group. We are still to learn your tutorials.
I truly appreciate your tutorials and I have printed them all so I can start work on them when I have an hour to spare here and there.
If Le Pappy makes his way to the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia drop me a line and I will show you some local sites. You can even stay at my home if you desire.

On another note, I visited the French site and did not understand any of the tutorials or web site - Understandable if you do not read or speak French. - Wait , there is a reason for this comment.
I use a web browser called SeaMonkey. (It is made by the people at Mozilla.) It has a Tool called " translate page" Clicking on it takes you to "Google Translate" It works very well. Sometimes the sentence structure is not quite right, but it is good enough to understand the tutorials and web site.
This means we can still enjoy all your information and tutorials even if the English page is no longer produced. Yahoo, err, I mean... Go Google.

Thanks for all your tutorials over the years. We really do appreciate - even if we all don't participate in your challenges.

Hello Peter,

We are also devastated, that's why we fight hard to avoid that !! Thanks a lot for your support, we will do our best to ensure that english part is not stopped, but we are still searching some good help... We are currently facing some problems with the current issues with Pinnacle Studio, our list of bugs being difficult to understand for english speaker, at least that's the feedback we had.
Concerning the automatic translation, I am against this solution, which never do a perfect job, and only a minority will do so, others will just jump to a real english website...

Finally, Le papy read your comment before leaving (holidays), and he really appreciate it !! That's very kind of you to do such proposition, he was very very pleased to read this. He is asking me to answer you, by saying that he does not speak english and he is too old for such a trip ! But he sends you big and warm thanks.
Have a very nice day,
DV FX
