proDAD Mercalli V2 available as an unlocked Studio 14 / Studio 15 / AVID Studio plugin

On 31st October 2010, we received from one of our reader, Uwe, a capital information: it seems possible to obtain the unlock Mercalli V2 plugin for Studio 14/15. The information has been confirmed by proDAD this morning (01.11.2010 08:00). So, Mercalli V2 PRO version (either when buying Mercalli V2 PRO ($82 instead of $200) - or the upgrade from Mercalli V1 Expert to PRO or Light to PRO) contains the already unlocked Pinnacle Studio 14/15 as well AVID Studio plugin ! There is no need to buy the plugin at the Avid Shop. For information, you get 25% discount when ordering through our website. This version include Studio 14/15 + AVID Studio plugin already (as well as many other plugins: Adobe Premiere Elements 1.0 to 8.0, Adobe Premiere Pro 1.0 to CS5, Adobe After Effects 7.0 to CS5, Final Cut Pro 7.x, Final Cut Express 4.x, MagixVideo Deluxe 16 to 17, MagixVideo Pro X 2 to 2.5, Sony Vegas 7.x to 10 Pro, Thomson Grass Valley, Canopus Edius NEO 1.x to 5.x). I bought the software when it came out and have it updated to latest version. No luck in getting it to run unlocked in Pinnacle Studio 14. Seems to work fine in After Effects CS5. Can't get satisfactory results with stand alone version. The output file seems worse than the original. I've heard similar comment about people using SAL version and not being happy with output choices and results. By the way, when I contacted AVID, I was told that they would not be releasing an unlock feature and this V2 software was incompatible with any version of Pinnacle. They made no promise to ever support this version. I then bought CS5 to complete a current project. Also - the plugin doesn't appear to work in Vegas Movie Studio 10 Platinum. Hello Alain, You should contact proDAD again, and I might help you if needed, but for sure proDAD Mercalli V2 *IS* working with Studio 14, I just tried yesterday without any problem. Thanks for the offer to assist. I did contact Prodad (mostly because you guys are never wrong) and they sent me a link to a new plugin download version 2.0.68 It worked - I just had to enter my serial number again. Strange thing is that when I downloaded the plugins using the original download link over the past few weeks, I got version 2.064, .069, 071 but never 2.068. If you install these other versions then the plugin for Pinnacle isn't installed. These other versions only install plugin for Premier Pro CS5, Sony Vegas and Magix. I don't think the newest .71 version installs a new Pinnacle plugin. Here are my results. Pinnacle Studio 14 works, 28 f/s sustained on HD content - similar to Premier pro however not all CPU cores at 100% more like 70 percent each. Pinnacle appears to outperform Premiere on this task Magix Movie Edit Plus 16 HD works, 60+ f/s sustained on HD content and 100 % Core utilization peaks at 75+ f/s Vegas Movie Studio doesn't work but also not supported Premiere Pro CS5 works, 29 - 30 f/s sustained on HD content - odd with CUDA support active can't beat Magix performance After Effects CS5 with CUDA works, 70 f/s sustained on HD content Mercalli Stand Alone Version best was 30 f/s sustained and 100 % core utilization Mercalli Stand Alone SAL - works fine, Output seems fine in preview window, artifacts appear with interlaced content, and strange thing with desktop shortcut - icon is missing. You can't even create a new shortcut with a working Icon. Must be something to do with 64 bit OS. I do a lot of work where a handycam isn't always possible so I rely on image stabilization. I end up using many different packages because each has its own merits. Magix seems to win this round cost/performance wise thanks for the help Alain Monday, December 20, 2010 2:15 PM

Well here it is 2 months later and I am having the same problem. It doesn't seem to me that these guys have all their ducks in a row. I was provided with a link to download version 2.0.39 and another for plugins. The Stand alone version seems to work although I have not really given it any scrutiny. The plugins do not work or even show in Studio 14. No PROdad what so ever. In Studio 12 I have PROdad icon that shows version 1 which I have never used. I am seeing some strange things when trying to access PROdad plugins. This is becoming a pain real fast. Friday, January 07, 2011 11:49 AM

Is there a way to install Mercalli Expert (Ihave the CD-ROM) in Avid Studio?

Hello Bandl, Sorry for answering so late, I was on holidays. Mercalli Expert is also called Mercalli V1. Please read our FAQ here regarding differences between Mercalli V1 and Mercalli V2. But basically, Mercalli V2 is fully compatible with AVID Studio. Some users reported that Mercalli V1 is working with AVID Studio if I am not wrong (you should modify manually an XML file - check our article which might help as well: Transfer into Avid Studio your old plugins still functional) DV FX Saturday, March 10, 2012 1:22 PM

Hello Alex, You are still using the trial version, and you need to enter your serial to unlock it. So, if you bought proDAD Mercalli with proDAD, you should contact their support team and they will help you. If you have difficulties, I may get in touch for you with them, and try to help you.
