Upgrading Boris Graffiti to 5.3 ?
If you have subscribed to Boris FX, you should have received a newsletter on 22 July 2008, with information regarding Boris Graffiti 5.3.
This upgrade is free for all users of Boris Graffiti 5.x. The version which is delivered with Pinnacle Studio 12 Ultimate is displayed as being version 5.2. At first, we thought that we could upgrade and we were concerned. Some of you had problems trying the upgrade, and our team at DV FX got in touch with Boris FX which gave us the following answer :
"The version of Boris Graffiti bundled with Pinnacle Studio is the latest version of Boris Graffiti. Studio customers should not download the version 5.3 update; it includes no new features."
The official note is there: http://www.borisfx.com/updates/#graffiti
Latest information obtained from Boris FX:
The "standalone" version is called the KeyFamer. The Graffiti KeyFramer is a free, standalone application designed to create Boris Graffiti effects offline using any computer. The Graffiti KeyFramer features the same user interface as the plug-in but uses proxy images instead of your timeline video. Once you create effects in the KeyFramer, you save the settings to render in the plug-in. However, when you open these settings in your host application (Pinnacle Studio), you can still make adjustments to the settings before rendering. Simply install the KeyFramer on any system, type your text, format it, and then save a settings file.
Graffiti 5.3 was necessary to update other Graffiti 5.x customers with the new features that was developed for Pinnacle Studio. All improvements in Graffiti 5.3 are already included in the version of Graffiti that is bundled with Studio.
